Nov 19, 2012 (LBT) - Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), along with 14 Local Travel Agent Companies and Sri Lankan Airlines participated in CITM 2012.It was a good opportunity for the Sri Lankan Travel Agents to meet their counterparts in China.
The objective of Sri Lanka participating the event was to create awareness about the peaceful conditions in Sri Lanka after the end of the war during the Consumer Days held on 17th and 18th of November.Several steps were also taken to introduce a number of new products related to the market of China. Partiicpation of media at the event was a great opportunity to obtain a very good media exposure to market the producst to the travelers worldwide.
The China International Travel Mart 2012 (CITM 2012) was held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China which is the biggest travel mart in China.This was started on 15th November and carried on till 18th November.
With the basic view to create awareness about the peaceful conditions in Sri Lanka after the end of the war, Consumer Days were held on 17th and 18th of November and steps were taken to introduce a number of newest products related to the market of China. Since a number of media personnel participated in the event, SLTPB also got an excellent opportunity to obtain a very good media exposure to market its product to the travelers worldwide.
Ranjith Uyangoda, Sri Lankan Ambassador to China, Vimal K. Arulampalam,Minister Councillor and Ms. Madubhani Perera, Acting Director - Marketing of SLTPB, participated in the event representing Sri Lanka.SLTPB has also made arrangements to participate in Chendu international Travel fair 2012; another major trade fair at China, which will commence at the end of this month.
SLTPB has initiated several Promotional programmes Under the guidance of the Ministry Of Economic Developmentto take advantage of the rapid growth in chinese tourism industry as it has been identified as one of the emerging market for tourism.
