Convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Sanjeewa Bandara stated that 7 of the 8 students arrested from the University of Jaffna have been released. 

The students were released last night (09).  

Several of the students were arrested on the November 26 inside the university premises for commemorating Remembrance Day while the rest were arrested during a protest held the following day. 

The IUSF convener stated that one of these students was previously released on bail.

Meanwhile eight more students were arrested on October 7 out of which seven students were released last night. 

Bandara further stated that four students are still being held under detention orders.
